Description
The STCW Basic Safety Training Course (BST) is a mandatory programme for all aspiring seafarers seeking employment onboard merchant vessels. Approved by the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) and compliant with the STCW Convention, this course provides the essential knowledge and practical skills required to respond effectively to emergencies and maintain a safe working environment at sea.
The programme covers four core modules: Personal Survival Techniques (PST), Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (FPFF), Elementary First Aid (EFA), and Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities (PSSR). Through a combination of classroom instruction and practical exercises, participants develop the confidence and competence needed to handle emergency situations, protect lives, and contribute to safe shipboard operations.
Upon successful completion, candidates receive the mandatory certification required to begin a professional career in the global maritime industry.
