Description
The Advanced Training for Chemical Tanker Cargo Operations (CHEMCO) is a 10-day, 60-hour, DGS-approved programme designed for deck and engine officers responsible for cargo operations onboard chemical tankers. Conducted in accordance with STCW Regulation V/1-1, the course provides advanced knowledge and practical competencies required to safely plan, supervise, and manage the handling of hazardous liquid chemical cargoes.
The programme covers the properties and hazards of chemical cargoes, tanker construction, cargo handling systems, MARPOL and IBC Code requirements, pollution prevention, safety management, emergency response, and cargo planning. Through classroom instruction and simulator-based practical exercises, participants develop the skills needed to conduct chemical tanker cargo operations safely, efficiently, and in compliance with international maritime regulations.
Eligibility
- Valid Basic Chemical Tanker Cargo Operations certificate.
- Minimum 3 months of approved sea service on chemical tankers.
- Valid Certificate of Competency (CoC).
