Description

Course Overview
Duration: 4 days.
Purpose: To update engineers on the latest developments in marine engineering systems, international conventions (IMO/ILO), and changes in safety or environmental regulations (e.g., MARPOL).
Mandate: Required by DGS Circular 7 of 2022 for all engineer officers and ETOs holding an STCW 2010 compliant CoC.

Eligibility
Certification: Must hold an STCW 2010 compliant Certificate of Competency (CoC).
Scope: Applicable to both Operational and Management Level Engineer Officers, as well as ETOs.
Exclusion: This course is not for Deck Officers (who have their own RUT course).
Requirements for Enrolment

When applying to a DG Shipping-approved maritime training institute, you will generally need the following documents:
Identity Proof: Valid Indian Passport and your INDoS (Indian National Database of Seafarers) number.
Service Record: A valid Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC).
Certification: A copy of your current, valid CoC (any rank).
Photographs: Recent color passport-sized photographs (typically against a light background).

STCW Compliance & Revalidation
Regulation: This training is a prerequisite for the revalidation of your CoC under STCW requirements.
Validity Extension: If you complete this course within 6 months prior to the expiry of your current CoC, the revalidated certificate will be extended for five years from the original expiry date.
Exit Exam: The course typically concludes with a mandatory exit examination (30 questions, 30 minutes, 50% passing mark).
