Description

The Near Coastal Voyages (NCV) Marine Engineer Preparatory Course is a mandatory training program designed for engineering seafarers who wish to clear their competency examinations and obtain a Certificate of Competency (CoC) to serve on vessels operating within coastal limits (near-coastal waters).

STCW Code Section A-III/1 & A-III/3: Specifically outlines the minimum standard of competence required for engineering personnel on NCV vessels up to 3,000 kW propulsion power.

Course Details
Objective: Prepares candidate engineers for the MEO Class IV (NCV) or MEO Class III (SEO NCV) written and oral examinations conducted by national maritime administrations (like the Directorate General of Shipping in India).

Operational Level (MEO Class IV NCV): Typically, 4 months covering the STCW Code competence tables.
